Choosing a Plumbing Professional.

choosing a plumbing professional

Choosing the right professional is the most important step when you have to make a repair to your plumbing system or conduct a remodeling project. Why? Well, for starters, plumbing is something that everyone has come to take for granted, and therefore causes major inconvenience and sometimes high costs when there's a problem.

In selecting the right professional to handle your plumbing needs, here are some simple things to look for:

  • Make sure your plumber has the proper insurance licenses. Did you know that when you hire a contractor who is not properly licensed and bonded, you become the general contractor and you are responsible for not only any damage to your home, but also are liable if the plumber gets hurt while working on your home.
  • Make sure your plumbing contractor has a contractor's license and obtains the necessary permits to work on your home. Remember, if you have not obtained the proper permits, you may be held liable for improper installation when you go to sell your home.
  • Make sure your plumbing contractor offers workmanship warranties (not just manufacturer warranties). This will protect you from shoddy installations.
  • Ask about an iron-clad guarantee. A lot of plumbing contractors do not warrant their work. Make sure you get a 100% satisfaction or your money back guarantee. There is no reason to do business with any company that does not offer this type of guarantee! You cannot lose with this kind of guarantee!
